I’ve tried to really minimize the amount of street clothing that I bring with me on a long-duration ride and I’ve been able to get my basic wardrobe down to the following items. Everything except for my fleece and shoes fits into the Eagle Creek pack cube in the picture above. Of course, I do my own washing every night or two in the sink, and I have to wear the same clothing for many weeks or months at a time. It begins to feel quite normal after the first couple of weeks and I don’t miss the decision of “what will I wear today?” because it’s already been decided for me.
2 pairs underwear - ExOfficio brand
2 pairs socks - very thin and lightweight so that they dry and pack easily
1 pair of wool socks - in case it’s very cold outside
2 t-shirts - I prefer synthetic fabrics that don’t smell and dry easily.
1 pair of lightweight long pants - I like the ExOfficio brand, especially the “convertable” pants that can also become shorts
1 lightweight long sleeve shirt - Again, I like the ExOfficio brand
1 pair of thermal long underwear - this is my basic, “first layer” protection against cold weather
1 pair fleece pants and jacket - this is my “second layer” protection against REALLY cold weather
1 bandana - good for soaking in water and wearing around the neck
1 pair normal shoes
